Our Mission

The Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP), both research institution and industry partner, is investigating  the physical methods of nondestructive testing, the characterization of materials, the control and monitoring of manufacturing processes and system components and the condition monitoring of existing infrastructure. This extends over several orders of magnitude whether it is to real mountains, bridges, or atoms.

Contractual partners come from industry, service companies and public institutions.

In the industry, our results are used everywhere, where safety and quality assurance statements are required. Our methodological expertise includes the physical process fundamentals, sensors, equipment manufacturing, handling techniques, techniques for evaluation of results and documentation as well as qualification and validation of new test applications and test equipment, including equipment maintenance, training and testing services.
